Join NCWF and NCWF Durham Wildlife Stewards Chapter for three fun-filled days of renowned speakers, hands-on activities, and field trips at Duke Homestead in Durham! Come participate in NCWF’s Wildlife Habitat Steward Training program and become a certified wildlife habitat steward. This program will allow participants to increase their knowledge and ability to protect, conserve, and restore habitat for local wildlife. The Red Wolf is the world’s most endangered canid, with fewer than 300 left in existence. The only wild population, with fewer than 19 wolves, exists in Eastern North Carolina. Their recovery has a complex history and management.
Join the Tri-County Conservationists Chapter of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation and Katerina Ramos, NCWF’s Red Wolf Education and Outreach Coordinator, for a talk on the species’ history, biology, management, and how you can help their recovery.

About the presenter
Katerina Ramos began her career as a high school volunteer in wildlife rehabilitation in Pennsylvania. She holds a B.S. in Zoology from Delaware Valley University and an M.S. in Integrative Biology from Oklahoma State University. She interned with the Red Wolf Recovery Program in 2018 and has served as NCWF’s Red Wolf Education and Outreach Coordinator since 2020. She also runs the Red Wolf Center in Columbia, NC, and sits on the SAFE Education Committee for Red Wolves.
Celebrated annually during the third week of March, Creek Week is a time to discover and clean up our local waterways. Since 2009, we have collected an estimated 210,989 pounds of litter with 4,808 volunteers during Durham Creek Week!
This year, Creek Week will take place from March 15 to March 22. Creek Week is one of Durham’s largest litter cleanup initiatives of the year, as well as a week-long celebration of Durham’s creeks, streams, rivers, and lakes. Learn more about Creek Week here!

You can choose from multiple locations in the watershed! Registration required to ensure adequate equipment and staffing.

You’re invited to join the Triangle Land Conservancy’s new cohort of TLC Trail Guides! The next training will take place weekly from February 22nd-March 8th. Participants complete a 12 hour training program that makes them eligible to submit ideas for hikes they will lead or partner with other hike leaders. Trail guides can also help represent TLC at community outreach events with staff! If you love the outdoors and are interested in environmental education this is a great opportunity to get involved and be a public ambassador for TLC’s work.
