
Master Naturalist Programs
We hope to offer the program again to residents of Chatham, Durham, Orange, and Wake counties in 2028. The application process will begin approximately six months before class begins. Complete the inquiry form at the bottom of this page, you will receive an email alert if the application process re-opens.

Currently, two other Master Naturalist programs exist in North Carolina. They are intended for residents in their area.
- Central Carolina Master Naturalist program in Mecklenburg County
- Northwest Piedmont Master Naturalist program in Forsyth County
If your county of residence is not listed, please consider contacting your county’s Extension Center, and suggest they consider offering this program.
Habitat Programs
The NC Wildlife Federation offers a Wildlife Habitat Steward Training Certification program.
These programs are offered over a three-day period across the state. Please refer to the NCWF’s calendar to find an offering near you.
Native Plant Programs
Botanical gardens offer coursework & certificate series if you are interested in studying native plants.
